5 random food facts!

I hope you guys aren't bored of me, Waffle girl yet! Recently, I came across some interesting food facts from Daily Random Facts! Well, you can be a DIY Food idiot, but never be an idiot of the food you put in your mouth!

No ice cream left at home? Fret not, make some!

Hi fellow readers of Cooking for Idiots, its me Waffle girl! It’s Tuesday and we hope you are still hanging in there.

Lately, I’ve been thinking of having more fun with my waffles topping. Especially ice cream!

What could be better than enjoying ice cream in the palpable delirium of a heat wave? (Besides a cold bath and a thirst quenching drink) Anyhow, I digress.

You know those times when you really feel like having some ice cream and there’s none in the fridge? And you’re too lazy to go to the supermarket to get your favourite Ben & Jerry’s? Well, who says you need to buy any? You can make homemade ice cream with all the basic things you can probably find in the kitchen!

You will need:
2 x ziplock bags
½ cup of reduced fat/whole milk/cream
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Lots of ice cubes with salt

1) Dump it all in
Place the ice cubes with salt in a ziplock and the milk, sugar and vanilla extract in a separate one.

 2)  Shake it up
Shake the ziplock containing the milk to mix the ingredients before placing it into the ziplock with ice cubes.  Continue shaking it vigorously.

3) Serve!
Your ice cream should be ready if it’s creamy. Once done, you can scoop it and serve with your favourite toppings.  Coco pops, rainbow chocolate rice, anything! If you’re feeling for some chocolate ice cream, just substitute the vanilla extract with cocoa powder. Recipe serves 1.

Try the recipe and let us know how it goes!
